A Transport Interface On The Mer De Glace
The first building project focuses on the interface and entwining between two transport systems and between the landscape and built form. A visual journey is choreographed with the boundary between the artificial and the natural constantly shifting, the perception and visual connection to nature also shifts via a series of transitions throughout the building. This leads to the scheme being an interface not only between two systems but the man made world of Chamonix and the unspoilt natural world of the glacier.
During the technical report the notion of interface blurred boundaries of nature and man will be explored as both a physical blurring of natural elements into the artificial insertion, but also a differential and responsive attitude to thermal and solar comfort, based on new notions of ecology and environmentally responsible design.
