Futures for the City of London 2025-2125
A series of alternative visions for the Capital, done over a 6 month period, starting in February 2014. The first series
based on a porjection of current planning policy and direction was completed for the UK relase of the independant film the Machine, and published in the national media.
It depicts a city of glass and steel gone astray great towers left empty as stores of capital rather than people. the sea level has risen but is being kept in check by
adhock flood defenses on the edge of the Thames, tidal barages and wind turbines power this metropolis. The second series proposes a dystopic alternative derelict empty abandoned and left to fall down. The final series is a more positive scenario
which new speculative technologies and approaches to urban living have overtaken the city, hyper density of people and plantlife, the city as a self supporting ecology emerges rather than a land hungry parasite on the rest of the surrounding countryside.
